Do you like American Interests.blogspot?

Do you read/like this blog and accept as true its central premise that America remains the ultimate guarantor of the way of life that most of us in the West enjoy? That America remains an overwhelming force for good in the world.

If so, can I be bold and ask that you add this site to your Technorati favorites and subscribe to the feed. The links are provided in the right hand pane. Spread the word, tell your friends, workmates and associates about it. It's these little things that help this blog to grow and expand the reader base. For those that have already done so, thanks!

Finally, please permit me to express my sincere gratitude to a sponsor, the VA Mortgage Center and acknowledge the fine work they do in addressing the specific mortgage lending needs of veterans and active military members alike. America's veterans and active duty personnel should be rewarded for their service and sacrifice.

This post will remain on top until the end of the month. Please scroll down a little and check my latest post; it's just below!China’s 2008 Defense budget”.

America has been great for people living in America, but in the last fifty years America has been a disaster for the third world. From overthrowing democratic governments in Iran, Chile, and Gutamela to instigating wars, and propping up dictators. America's foreign policy endevours over the last fifty years have done more harm then good both to Americans and to the rest of the world.

Otto, you have a most excellent blog in whose premise that I fully agree. I will add as favorite in Technorati when I figure out why I cannot access the site with my log in.

I will also repeat you as my blog of the month for April. You postings are always very insightful, imformative and well worth reading and linking to.

Angel: Point taken, I'll be over to WHT within minutes...

young activist: Welcome to AI. Now we know that American hasn't been perfect, hence my writing, "even with some imperfections" in my "about this blog" summary. But in doing some of the harm you refer to, the United States of America protected us from the most evil scourge of all; communism.

I would strongly contest your assertion that "America's foreign policy endevours over the last fifty years have done more harm then good both to Americans and to the rest of the world", as would many an academic.

I note a different America, one with an impressive record of achievement in creating a world order that has greatly benefited the world, presiding over a network of institiutions, giving it a role in diplomacy, economies and security that dwarfs all other nations.

In an insecure world, one that presents many threats to our way of life there exists a need for the kind of global leadership that only America can provide…

Being a superpower has many advantages however, it also attracts a fair share of resistance and antagonism, the latter representing the normal by-product
of being in a position to commandeer the global geopolitical landscape…

You have a great blog, Otto!

An underlying premise is that America is a force for good in the world, a point, as you know, we both share unequivocally.

Keep it up!!

yes yes yes yes yes !!!

I'm ashamed I have never been able to get Technorati to work properly. I sign in and they tell me I don't exist. I know that's not true, because I can search for myself, the I'm there. I don't get it. I'm the most UNtechnical person you could even meet.

But for you I will try again.

Glad to find your blog through Karen's! I have NO idea what TECHNORATI is as I'm new to the blogging world, but I hope you can stop by and post if something captures your fancy!

The remark about America not being good for third world countries threw me! I wish we weren't quite as good, we could use some of those gazillion dollars helping US right here in the USA! Think Tsunami, AIDS in Africa, etc etc.
One shouldn't do good for others just for the thanks, but it would be nice to at least get it noticed!?

And don't you just hate it when we get rid of dictators and their gallows?

I look forward to stopping in and wish you all the best! Z

Very glad to have you there, Otto! And glad to be here, too. I'll be looking forward to more of your writing and seeeing you more at geeeeZ! Like I said at my blog, there are MANY Americans who don't understand our goodness and importance in the world as much as you do. And that's not to suggest I think America has no faults!

I would like to know why you have such a respect for the USA. perhaps I'll email you. By the way, I have been in Sydney and Melbourne and loved them both....Have you said on your blog where you're located? I have to admit I loved Sydney, but I'm a Melbourne fan!
