Conservative Blog

American Interests was recently added to The Best Conservative Blogs on the Internet joining a list that presently begins at Atlas Shrugs and ends at Young America’s Foundation.

The list can be found at UrbanConservative a conservative blog by an ex-Marine, (8 years in the US Marine Corps, 4th LSB, 4th FSSG (AKA: Red Patcher)) who resides in the San Fran Bay Area - seriously!

Interestingly, the UrbanConservative title, “was created to break the perception that not all conservatives look like Newt Gingrich. Yah know…white-upper-class males that you normally see on Capitol Hill; and that conservatives can be cool, sophisticated, hip and even urban.” I liked that. I also liked the Conservative Banners page, check it out here.

Comments always appreciated

Congratulations on your blog award. I did not realize your blog was "conservative," I just thought it was pro-American.

Is "conservative" the same as "pro-American"?

Many thanks in advance for your thoughtful reply.

Ortho: A most pertinent question; one that lends itself to a lengthy analysis Ortho, but just briefly, or as brief as I can make it….

Not surprisingly, there is a link between pro-Americanism and conservatism. A quick look through Blogosphere and the WWW in general reveals that conservatives are more pro Americanism than their opposites, perhaps not so much by definition, unquestionably though, through rhetoric and language.

Interesting when one Google’s conservatism and pro Americanism at the results one gets. At a political level, conservative politicians advance the view as well, think Sarkozy and Howard (Australia) amongst many others past, and present.

American Interests remains a Pro American site not one strictly espousing conservative values even though I am a conservative. If its contents are perceived as conservative and/or if it is deemed a "conservative blog", then that is something I am most comfortable with.

If anyone is curious about the post title, "Conservative blog", think SEO...

Thanks for asking!

Thanks for that, although it would not be correct to call it an "award" more accurately, a valued link from my perspective...I will be over to your site real soon...

Thank you for posting my blog address, how very kind of you.
Well, to me it's an AWARD!! It might not come with a plaque, but it's a singling out of a very good blogger who loves this country! THAT SHOULD be awarded! Thanks, AI, you're a very good guy.

Congratulations!

And, picking up from Ortho ("I did not realize your blog was "conservative," I just thought it was pro-American. Is 'conservative' the same as 'pro-American'? "), I didn't realize that your blog was "conservative" - or that one of mine is.

You addressed the issue, above, but I won't resist the urge to get my two cents in.

I've been referred to online as "some conservative guy," and my "Another War-on-Terror Blog" defined as "conservative" so often, that I suppose it must be true.

However, I'm not "conservative." I'm Catholic, and a convert at that. That opens a can of worms that would take too long, so -

I was born in 1951, so I remember the tail-end of the "Happy Days" years. The 'conservatives' I encountered were rabid anti-Communists. There was a real threat, but it was hard to see behind the obvious psychological and intellectual problems they had.

My favorite was a flier, pointing out that communists were helping the British during the American Revolutionary war.

Think Reverend Wright, after a massive makeover.

Now, I think that your blog is seen as "conservative," because you deal with facts, and perform logical processes on the facts.

These days, that's not a typically liberal characteristic. Since many people have a dichotomous view of the world, since you aren't liberal, you must be conservative: as far as they are concerned.

That's probably an over-simplification, but I think there's an element of truth in it.

Keep Blogging!
