Iraq: Troop withdrawal plans flawed

"Obama is beginning to flop and its going to drive the Liberals crazy"...

In the first place I urge readers to watch this, I was unable to successfully embed the video so check out "Obama's Iraq Withdrawal Plan" clip.

Last week, there was a small dustup when Barack Obama said at a press conference in North Dakota that he would "refine" his Iraq policy after meeting with commanders on the ground later this month. That same afternoon, Obama called another press conference to reiterate that his position in Iraq had not changed: "My first day in office I will bring the Joint Chiefs of Staff in and I will give them a new mission and that is to end this war – responsibly, deliberately, but decisively."

Obama has always said he will rely on the judgment of commanders on the ground in Iraq before he implements his 16-month withdrawal timetable. As you noticed on the clip, Martha Raddatz of ABC News reports that some commanders on the ground are skeptical of Obama's plan.

Here's what it says on Obama's website:

Bringing our troops home
"Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months. Obama will make it clear that we will not build any permanent bases in Iraq. He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats; if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda."

As Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond, the top commander of U.S. forces in the Baghdad area, indicated, any withdrawal of troops need to be conditions based.

Obama is beginning to flop and its going to drive the Liberals crazy. Stay tuned, for as we draw closer to November he will be converted to the "outcomes based" strategy.

The Democratic candidates troop withdrawal strategy is not plausible. Politics aside NOT in Americas Interests, nor the worlds.

I'm convinced Obama's going to be a disaster in American foreign policy. He's flipping out on Iraq ... I'm certain he'll go ahead and override the commanders on the ground to pay for his indulgent regulatory and social policies.

Keep it up, Ottavio!!

Even some of his staunch supporters are getting upset with him. Now there is a website "former Obama supporters", heh.

When a person has nor core or principles it becomes easy to change with the political climate in order to get elected.

Obama is among the worst a doing this because he will do or say anything to get in the White House in order to have the chance to destroy the military appease and surrender in Iraq and elswhere allowing terrorism to return to its pre 9/11 strengths and push his Marxist domestic agenda.

He is without a doubt the most dangerous candidate to run for President in my life time, (since 1956)and likely in all of US history.

Obama IS a flop.

I don't think the man has a clue. He ran an op-ed in the NYT on withdrawing troops, now that al-Maliki wants a plan, yet he is about to go over to Iraq in a week or two. Why didn't he wait til he went and saw what was going on there first? It's all about expediency for him.

What we are seeing is Act II of Barack Obama. Act I, I believe was the true Obama. Act II is him moving toward the center because so many "middle Americans" don't really like Marxists.

Bill Clinton governed not on principle, but based on which way the political winds blew (no pun intended). With Obama, who knows what he would do? All we can rely on is his far left voting record. Scary, very scary.

Nice post!

I agree with americaneocon -- Obama would be disastrous for American foreign policy and would dismantle the military again. Thanks for dropping by earlier!

But will the voting public figure it out in time. Scary times!

Yep, i posted about this too. This is the test for Obama, he even wants to boost troop levels in Afghanistan, careful what you wish for old chap. What’s Obama going to do if things go sour in Afghanistan. If he flees Iraq, things will be infinitely harder in Afghanistan. The question for Americans is, do you think Obama has what it takes to hold the line in Afghanistan until you win.

People might not like Bush that much anymore, but it may yet become painfully obvious that he and his general Petraeus held off the enemy in Iraq and also at home. I certainly don’t think Obama’s backbone is anywhere near that strong.

Hi Otto!

Obama and the Dems are so out of touch it almost seems redundant to keep repeating their nonsense. But we must to educate the few liberals that might take the time to read and take heed to what it being presented here.

Great essay as always my friend.

Obama will do and say anything to get elected... so much for his policy of change.. he's just another politician, as his Reverend Wright pointed out so succinctly. And even though he is veering more centrist to appeal to more voters, once he gets elected, God forbid that should happen, he will veer far left, once again.
